WHY IS ROUTINE DENTAL CARE IMPORTANT?
Regular dental appointments are key to maintaining your oral health. On your first visit to our office, we will provide you with a cleaning, in-depth examination, and dental x-rays. Our dental hygienists use specialized dental tools to thoroughly clean the smile. Routine dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar from the mouth. Plaque is a bacterial film that creates tartar when hardened. Because it can be difficult to remove tartar at home, we recommend regular professional cleanings.
During a regular dental examination, we view the teeth and gums. We may take dental x-rays and scans to diagnose treatments or determine if they require extra dental care. Our team routinely screens patients for periodontal disease, cavities, and oral cancer. Signs of tooth decay include holes or pits in the enamel as well as sensitive and painful teeth. Gum disease symptoms include red, inflamed, and bleeding gums as well as gum recession and bad breath. Finally, we look for signs of oral cancer, including chronic mouth sores and red and white patches in the mouth.
Before your first visit, we will ask for previous x-rays and medical history information from your previous dentist. We take your dental history into account before we create treatment plans. Our dentists also base your treatment plan on your budget and oral health goals. Routine dental visits prevent further oral health problems and allow us to create custom-made dental treatments individualized to each patient.
